LG Polls: Hoodlums Set Akwa Ibom Electoral Commission Office Ablaze

Hoodlums have set the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission office in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state on fire.

The Police Command in Akwa Ibom confirmed the attack, leaving many to wonder if this was a deliberate attempt to disrupt the local government elections.

In a chat with journalists in Ugo on Saturday, the police public relations officer (PPRO), ASP Timfon John, said that all electoral materials meant for the election were not consumed by the fire.

Ms John said that the command had reinforced security at all the AKISIEC offices and strategic locations in the state.

“Some hoodlums partly touched the AKISIEC office in Ibiono

“Ibom, but election materials remained intact, election is also ongoing,” he said.
