Chelsea caretaker manager, Frank Lampard has admitted that he has no role in negotiations between the club and midfielder Mason Mount regarding a new contract.
Mount faces an increasingly uncertain future at the west London club, with his deal set to expire at the end of next season.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie against Brentford on Wednesday evening, Lampard explained his stance on the contract saga.
When asked if there is a solution to the stand-off between Chelsea and Mount, Lampard replied to reporters at his pre-match press conference: “Yes, but at this point, it is not my opinion that will be the resolution.
“It will be the opinion of the club and the opinion of Mason, so that is between them. I think my opinion’s pretty clear, I don’t need to spell out what I think of Mason as a player, but he is not my one to get into, that is between them.”
