Lagos govt investigates ambulance incident at 11th City Marathon

‎Lagos State Government has launched an official investigation into an incident that occurred near the finish line during the 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on Saturday.

‎Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, clarified that the situation involved a female bystander who came into contact with an ambulance assigned to transport athletes requiring medical attention.

‎According to Omotoso, event officials immediately intervened upon noticing the incident.

‎The emergency medical team quickly evaluated the woman at the scene and provided initial treatment before transferring her to a public hospital for further assessment.

‎“She sustained minor bruises and complained of chest discomfort, but she was stabilised on-site, and her vital signs were monitored,” Omotoso stated.

‎He added that she is currently receiving medical care and responding positively to treatment.

‎The Lagos State Ministry of Health, together with the Sports Commission, are closely monitoring the situation.

‎Senior government officials have visited the hospital to ensure proper attention and care.

‎Omotoso reassured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

‎The situation drew attention online after a video circulated showing the bystander allegedly struck by the ambulance during the marathon.
