Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPADDEC) for its efforts in reducing unemployment and poverty in the country, particularly in Kogi State.
At the commencement of the distribution of start-up kits for 5,000 YTP Skilled participants and the presentation of CAC certificates to the beneficiaries in Lokoja today 26-11-2024, Governor Ododo, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, expressed his appreciation for N-HYPADDEC’s proactive role in addressing unemployment and poverty among the youth population.
According to Governor Ododo, N-HYPADDEC’s initiative will undoubtedly diminish youth unemployment, reduce criminal activities, and enhance the economic prosperity of the state. He urged the recipients to utilize the kits and equipment effectively for personal growth and development.
Deputy Governor Joel Salifu reassured the people of the state of Governor Ododo’s commitment to enhancing their livelihoods, especially the youth and women, through favorable policies and programs.
The Managing Director of N-HYPADDEC, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, highlighted that the commission was established to address ecological challenges arising from the operation of Hydroelectric Dams. He noted that approximately 702 participants in the state had undergone training and graduated in various skills, and would be empowered to alleviate the impact of economic downturn and poverty in the country.
