A Free Medical Program to carter for the health needs of the Vulnerable and Elderly People has been held in Anyava Community in Okene LGA by the Anyava Community Clinic Health Workers in partnership with the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
The Free Medical Outreach attended to over 145 patients with different health challenges some of it ranges from: Malaria, Hypertension, Diabetes, Arthritis and Rheumatism. Random Blood Sample Test (RBS) was also carried out to ascertain the sugar level in diabetic patients.
The programme afforded the vulnerable and elderly people in and around Okene LGA the opportunity to be provided with free medical attention and appropriate referrals. The outreach was held as part of the lined-up activities for the commissioning of the Community Development Plan supported by the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) which consists of a Motorised Borehole and Clinic Renovation under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme (NG-CARES)
The Free Medical Outreach was declared open by the General Manager, Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda O. Momoh where he promised more support from the Kogi State Government towards self-help project of communities in Kogi State.
At the heat of the programme, the beneficiaries were seen dancing and chanting songs of praises and prayers for the Agency, State Government and World Bank for bringing such a live saving programme to their community.
The Community Project Management Committee through its chairman, Mall. Salawu Okikiri expressed willingness to sustain the programme at least, for the benefit of the vulnerable people of the area and called on the well meaning individual in Kogi State to assist the community clinic in funding the next phase of the programme.
