Kogi SDP Distances Party from Publicity Secretary’s Controversial Post on Traditional Ruler

Kogi State’s Social Democratic Party (SDP) has disassociated itself from a viral social media post made by its State Publicity Secretary, Isaiah Davis Ijele, criticizing the outfit and public appearance of Ejeh of Ankpa, Abubakar Sediq Ahmed.

The party clarified that Ijele’s comments were made in his personal capacity and do not reflect the SDP’s position or policies.

In a statement, SDP State Chairman Hon Ahmed Attah emphasized that official party communications are duly authorized and formally issued, and the post in question did not meet these standards.

The party also rejected attempts to link the comments to its 2023 governorship candidate, Alhaji Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, calling such claims “misleading” and “politically motivated.”

The SDP expressed “highest esteem” for the Ejeh of Ankpa and traditional institutions in Ankpa, appreciating the local government’s support in the 2023 elections. The party reiterated its commitment to “respectful engagement” and “cultural sensitivity.”
