The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has congratulated the institution’s Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, on his 50th birthday, describing him as a visionary leader whose administration has repositioned the Polytechnic for academic excellence and sustainable growth.

In a goodwill message signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Sanni Shaibu, the council said Avidime’s leadership had fundamentally reshaped the institution’s academic landscape through quality assurance reforms, strategic infrastructure development and inclusive administration.

The council noted that since assuming office, the Rector had introduced policies that were steadily raising the Polytechnic’s academic profile among tertiary institutions in the country.

It also commended his commitment to infrastructural renewal across the institution’s campuses, saying several strategic projects initiated under his leadership reflected his determination to build a stronger and more competitive Polytechnic.

According to the council, Avidime has fostered an enabling environment that allows schools, directorates, departments and units to innovate and function effectively with professional autonomy.

It added that his leadership style had empowered staff, strengthened institutional governance and promoted efficiency across the Polytechnic.

The Governing Council further applauded the Rector’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with the Kogi State Government, relevant ministries and agencies, development partners, professional bodies, alumni associations, traditional institutions and industry stakeholders.

It said the collaborations had enhanced the Polytechnic’s profile and positioned it as a key partner in advancing technical education and human capital development in the state.

“The strategic partnerships and enduring relationships he has fostered have laid a solid foundation for a new era of institutional transformation and sustainable progress,” the statement said.

The council expressed confidence that the Rector’s collaborative leadership approach would unlock greater opportunities for the institution and consolidate its position as a leading centre of academic excellence, innovation and technical education.

While appreciating Avidime’s “selfless service, exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence,” the council described his humility, integrity and vision as qualities that had continued to inspire confidence among staff and students.

It prayed for God’s continued guidance, sound health, wisdom and strength for the Rector as he marks his golden jubilee, expressing optimism that his legacy of transformation would endure for years to come.
