Kogi NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel to Host 2026 Press Week, Targets N250m Secretariat Fund

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, is set to hold its 2026 Press Week on March 26 at Edge Drive Hotel.

According to a statement by the organising committee, the event will begin with a fundraising drive aimed at generating N250 million for the construction of a permanent secretariat for the chapel.

The programme will also feature a public lecture by Dr Femi Ajisafe, titled “Bad Roads: Seeking Alternatives Through Waterways and Cargo Airport,” alongside the conferment of awards on distinguished individuals in public service.

Notable awardees include Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Yahaya Bello, immediate past governor of Kogi State; and Olayemi Akinwumi, former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja.

Others to be honoured are Sule Salihu Enehe, Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service; Daramola Omoyele; and Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is expected as Special Guest of Honour, while the Ohimegye Igu of Kotonkarfe, Seidu Akawu, will serve as Royal Father of the Day.

Also expected at the event are Dahiru Mangal, Chairman of Mangal Industries, and Olatunji Olusoji, who will serve as principal launcher.

The Vice President of NUJ Zone D, Momohjimoh Adeiza, will serve as Chief Host, while the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, is the Host.
