KOGI : IPAC urges political parties, candidates to minimize post election litigations

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) , Kogi State has charged political parties and their candidates to shun all forms of litigations after elections in the interest of the people yearning for development of the State.

The Chairman of IPAC in Kogi State, Hon. Iliyas Badanga stated this at a press conference tagged “Peaceful Coexistence a panacea for development” organized by the Council in Lokoja on Wednesday.

According to him, the State has been drawn backward from meaningful development due to series of contestation of political cases after all elections , lamenting that since the beginning of democratic governance in Kogi State litigations against the winner of election has become a cog in the wheels of development of the state.

He therefore advise all political parties to always show resilience, sacrifice and patriotism interest of entire Kogi people who are yearning for a prosperous state instead of dragging it into more cases in court.

“This is not to be misconstrued as cowardice by the political parties, but to prevent more wastage of tax-payer’s money and individuals hard earned resources.

“Leadership is ordained by God Almighty divinely on “Time and chance” it’s on this note we are appealing for calm and determination to allow the winner of the election as declared by the tribunal to face development frontally” he stated.

While congratulating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his well deserved victory at the election petition tribunal in Abuja, the IPAC chairman charged all political parties in the state to accept the verdict of the tribunal.

Hon. Badanga also used the occasion to appealed to the winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state to be magnanimous in victory by forming a State of unity where the political parties are carried along to contribute their quota in the governance of the state.

He reminded the state government that the tenor of local government administration has for long expired , appealing that another local government election be conducted as soon as possible to enable local government areas benefit from dividend of democracy.
