The Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, (KGIRS) says it has adopted the use of technology to block leakages in revenue collection across the State.
The Executive Chairman, , Alhaji Salihu Sule Enehe, made the disclosure at the official flag off ceremony of Kogi State Infrastructure Maintenance Levy Collection on Monday at the Glass House, Government House, Lokoja.
The Chairman noted that the rate of leakages in the revenue generation process across the State is unimaginable and a major challenge to the service,.
He however said with the technology driven process now employed by the Service, that will no longer be manually driven, expressed optimism of an improved revenue generation.
The process the Chairman pointed out will improve the revenue generation of the State, said aside ease of collection, the human face approach that will not allow the tax payer to be injured by way of clamping down is now being employed.
The new technology, the Chairman explained takes care of challenges, pushes the challenges forward to the a later date, described the Kogi State Infrastructure Maintenance Levy Collection as purposely for drivers.
He described the Levy as one that has been in place over the years, said the only new addition is opt-in out from than manual collection process, that would now be driven technologically.
Mr. Abiodun Ekebafe, The Senior Partner with A’s Consulting firm, drivers of the new technology described the new method employed by KGIRS as one with security features, collects Data, makes the payment process seamless.
He added that the technology will boost revenue generation, pointing out that the receipt is fraud proof, cannot be detached, said every money made will go into the coffers of the State Government directly on a daily basis, described it as
an online real time technology.
The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo who flagged off the process, said his administration is committed to soaring the revenue generation profile of the State amidst dwindling allocation and expectations in meeting with the well-being of the people.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, assured of accountability and transparency with the management of the State resources.
Highlights of the flag off was an exposition of Automation and Demonstration of the device technology by the A’s Consulting firm.
The occasion witnessed goodwill message from the Commissioner for Transportation, NARTO, RTEAN, NUTWU, MOUN and TOAN representatives.
