Kebbi gov backs Tinubu’s re-election, cites highway, energy projects

‎Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has thrown his weight behind the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, citing the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway project and renewable energy initiatives being implemented by the Federal Government in the state as justification for the endorsement.

‎The governor made the remarks on Wednesday during an endorsement ceremony organised by the Tinubu Support Organisation at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, where supporters also endorsed Governor Idris for a second-term bid.

‎Idris described the President’s achievements in Kebbi State and across the country as significant and impactful, saying the administration had demonstrated a strong commitment to national development through strategic infrastructure and energy projects.

‎“We in Kebbi State have benefited immensely from the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Several federal projects have been sited in our state, including major infrastructure and renewable energy initiatives.

‎“These achievements clearly demonstrate the President’s commitment to national development and justify his re-election for a second term,” he said.

‎He added that Kebbi was proud to be among the first states to publicly declare support for the President’s second-term ambition.

‎“We are proud to be the first state to endorse Mr President for another term in office,” he stated.

‎The governor also commended the National Leader of the TSO, Aminu Suleiman, for mobilising support for the President and advancing the organisation’s objectives across the country.

‎Earlier, Suleiman thanked the governor for supporting the group and facilitating the launch of the endorsement campaign in Kebbi state, saying the initiative would subsequently be taken to other states.

‎“We have formally launched this endorsement campaign in Kebbi State and will subsequently take it to other states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory. Our members nationwide will actively mobilise support for President Tinubu and Governor Idris to ensure the continuation of their developmental programmes,” he said.

‎The endorsement event attracted supporters of the ruling party, political stakeholders and members of the Tinubu Support Organisation, who pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the two leaders ahead of future electoral contests.

‎The Kebbi endorsement marks one of the earliest formal declarations of support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition by a sitting state governor, coming more than a year before the 2027 general elections.

‎It reflects the growing momentum of a coordinated campaign by the APC’s political machinery to secure early backing from state-level leaders across the country, particularly in the North-West where the party commands significant electoral strength.

‎Kebbi State, located in Nigeria’s North-West geopolitical zone, is one of the APC’s most reliable strongholds.

‎Idris, who took office in 2023, has maintained a close political relationship with President Tinubu and has consistently aligned his administration with the Federal Government’s development agenda.

‎The state is strategically significant not only for its political loyalty but also for its economic importance, it is one of Nigeria’s leading rice-producing states and sits along key trade and transportation corridors in the North-West.
