Jalingo—Taraba State Police Command has apprehended three suspected bandits responsible for the supply of arms and ammunition to a wanted terrorist, Ali Kachalla, and other bandits in Niger, Zamfara and Katsina states.
The suspects, Ibrahim Mohammed, Rabiu Abdullahi, and Umar Wara, according to the police, are responsible for terrorising residents of Gassol, Jalingo, Yorro, and Takum local government areas of Taraba State.
The state Commissioner of Police, David Iloyanomon, while parading the trio alongside 25 other suspected criminals, said they were apprehended through credible intelligence in conjunction with the FID-STS.
According to him, “The operatives of FID-STS, in conjunction with Taraba State Command, while acting on credible intelligence, arrested three notorious bandits, namely, Ibrahim Mohammed, 50 years old, of Shinkafi Local Government of Zamfara State, Rabiu Abdullahi, 40 years old, of Sabon-Layi, Jalingo Town, and Umar Wara.
“The culprits are responsible for terrorising Gassol, Jalingo, Yorro, and Takum. They also confessed to have supplied over 50 AK-47/AK-49 rifles and over 3,000 live ammunition to a most wanted terrorist, Ali Kachalla, and other Bandit Camps in Niger, Zamfara, Katsina, and Taraba states.
“The following exhibits were recovered: One AK-47 rifle and 85 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.”
Iloyanomon also noted that the 25 other suspected criminals were apprehended for kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, cybercrime, cattle rustling, criminal conspiracy, and theft.
