Kashifu Inuwa and Professor Delfina Soares Finalise Key Collaboration Areas for National Development

In a significant move to foster global collaboration and advance national development, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, held a virtual meeting with Professor Delfina Soares, the Director of the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV).

The meeting, which took place earlier this week, focused on finalising critical areas of collaboration between NITDA and UNU-EGOV. This partnership, grounded in shared values of innovation and governance, is set to leverage research-driven strategies to address national challenges and accelerate sustainable development.

During the high-level discussion, both leaders underscored the pivotal role of research, innovation, and policy-driven initiatives in transforming governance structures and fostering economic growth.

Kashifu Inuwa expressed NITDA’s commitment to using technology as a catalyst for national development. “Our collaboration with UNU-EGOV is not just about technology but about building robust frameworks that integrate innovation, governance, and sustainable development. Together, we can design solutions that address pressing national issues,” he stated.

Professor Delfina Soares echoed this sentiment, highlighting UNU-EGOV’s expertise in policy-driven electronic governance. “Collaborating with NITDA aligns with our mission to support nations in developing effective and inclusive e-governance systems. By combining our global research capacity with NITDA’s national focus, we can achieve impactful results,” she said.

The meeting identified several focus areas for collaboration, including capacity building for policymakers, development of data governance frameworks, and the adoption of emerging technologies to enhance public service delivery.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s e-governance infrastructure and ensuring that innovation becomes a cornerstone of its development agenda.

The collaboration between NITDA and UNU-EGOV is expected to result in a series of initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, improving public service delivery, and fostering an innovation-driven economy.

As NITDA continues to position Nigeria as a global leader in information technology, this partnership serves as a testament to the agency’s unwavering commitment to advancing the nation’s digital economy.
