Kano Pillars, Katsina United grab NPL promotion

Katsina United and Kano Pillars are back in the Nigeria Premier League after spending one year in the lower league.

The northern rivals secured promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) on Wednesday afternoon.

Katsina United defeated Kano Pillars 1-0 in a keenly contested NNL Super Eight playoff tie at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Former Enyimba forward Victor Mbaoma scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute.

With DMD beating EFCC 2-0 in the other game, both clubs gained promotion to the Nigerian top flight.
