Kano Launches Initiative: Providing 6,500 Students with Free JAMB Forms

The Kano State Government has commenced free distribution of forms to 6,500 secondary school students to participate in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Governor Abba Yusuf noted that the gesture was an effort to create more opportunities for the beneficiaries to pursue tertiary education.

The Spokesperson to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Monday, quoted the Governor to have added that the gesture was also a symbol of his government’s unwavering committement to invest in the future of the children in the state.

He said, “We believe that education is a bedrock of development and by empowering our students, our children would have access to quality education, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future for our dear state, Kano.”

The Governor however used the opportunity to elaborate on the feats achieved by his government in developing the education sector in the last ten months.

During the period, Governor Yusuf said his administration has re-introduced foreign scholarship, payment of registration fees to Kano indigenes studying at Bayero University, Kano and re-opening of 21 Skills Acquisition institutes.

The governor also listed reduction by 50 per cent of registration fees in the state l-owned tertiary institutions, Cash Conditional Transfer to Support Girls-Child education, settlement of registration fees for NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS, among others.

He also urged all the beneficiaries to make best use of the opportunity and strive for excellence in their academic pursuit saying, “the future belongs to those who work tirelessly to turn dreams into realities.”

Governor Yusuf further appreciated the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the management and Staff of the State Ministry of Education and other stakeholders who contributed in making the exercise a huge success, noting that it will help in projecting the state in its quest to take education to a greater heights.
