Kano INEC Office Set Ablaze, NNPP Fingers APC

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s Office, INEC at Takai LGA of Kano State has been set on fire by suspected hoodlums.

The incident on Sunday is coming at a time results from yesterday’s elections are been collated in different areas of the state.

In a swift reaction, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP condemned the action while accusing the ruling APC of sponsoring the act.

“We wish to condemn in the strongest term, the APC’s unpatriotic act of arson, by setting ablaze the INEC office in Takai Local Government area of Kano State.

“The APC is all out to destroy collation processes and declaration of results after realizing the potentials of the NNPP at the polls yesterday”.

“This unpatriotic attack on the electoral umpire came at a time when collation was at 85 per cent completion today by 11.00am”.

“The security agencies shall as a matter of urgency swing into action to curtail the occurrences of such incidences in other locations”.

“Security, Media, Election Observers and INEC to take note, please”, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Spokesperson to NNPP Campaign Council said in a statement.

All efforts to get official reactions from the Public Relation Officer of INEC in Kano proved abortive as calls put across to him were not answered nor returned.

Furthermore, the Police Relationship Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa couldn’t be reach for his reaction.
