In the aftermath of the Kaduna village bombing during a Maulud celebration, Islamic cleric Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to establish an investigative panel swiftly.
According to him, conducting a comprehensive inquiry into unintentional bombing is critical to averting future accidents by analysing the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
The respected Islamic scholar and leader of Tijjaniyyah disciples also called on the government to compensate the families affected by the accidental bombing in Tundun Biri, Kaduna State.
Speaking to reporters at his Bauchi residence, he urged President Tinubu’s administration to ensure justice for the victims and prevent future incidents by holding those responsible accountable.
Expressing condolences to the affected families and the global Muslim community, Sheikh Dahiru emphasised the government’s duty to protect lives and properties.
“We are in pain. How did the people in the air drop bombs on innocent people? Whose fault is it? Is it the fault of the government, or who?” He queried.
“The essence of the government is to protect lives and property, but not to play with people’s lives. We urged for a thorough probe into the tragedy that killed scores of innocent persons”.
He added, “We have started discussions with the Federal Government through the National Security Adviser, and he pledged that they will ensure that they investigate and do justice to the victims when the President returns from his journey.”
