It was argument – Van Nistelrooy opens up on fall-out with Ronaldo

Former Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has opened up on his fall-out with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy said that his reported training ground bust-up with Ronaldo during his playing days was exaggerated by the media, insisting that it was an argument in training with the Portugal captain at Man United due to his style of play.

Ronaldo moved to Old Trafford from Sporting CP back in 2003, while Van Nistelrooy was already there for two years.

Speaking in an interview with former Manchester United defender Gary Neville on The Overlap, Neville brought up the subject and asked Van Nistelrooy: “Did you feel frustration with Cristiano?”

To which, Van Nistelrooy replied: “It got a bit out of hand with that situation. I think the way we are in a relationship, Cristiano and I, is fine now, in general. It’s been really blown up. It was an argument in training.”

“That is the story, but in the end we figured it out together and we moved on and the relationship is perfect.”
