The Kogi State Police Command has banned the use of vehicles with covered number plates, as well as unregistered vehicles/Motorcycles across the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, stated that the order became necessary following intelligence that criminals hide under the guise to carryout criminal activities which constitutes security threats to the State.

Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) of the command and made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Tuesday.
He further disclosed that, this act had led to increase in criminal activities, engendered an atmosphere of Lawlessness and concealed perpetrators of crime, this he said has become an obstacle in checkmating crime and criminality in the State by the Law enforcement agents.
The CP advised owners of Vehicles with covered number plates to remove them and those without registration number to register or have their Vehicles impounded by the Law enforcement agents.
He further stated that it is illegal for Vehicles owners and drivers to cover their number plates or drive without registration number.
The CP urged the general public to comply with this order as the Police will commence the clamp down and impounding of vehicles and prosecution of offenders.
He advised members of the public to register their vehicles, remove covered number plates and replace the defaced number plates among others.
