Inmate awaiting trial in same Kuje prison clinic with Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer dies overnight

An awaiting trial inmate, identified simply as Bitrus, has died overnight at the Kuje Correctional Center of an undisclosed ailment.

According to Sahara Reporters, the deceased, whose cause has not been determined, was put in Kuje by the same police prosecutor, Musa Adama, who also had arraigned 13 #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore.

Sources who spoke to the media outlet said the prosecutor is known for framing poor Nigerians, most of whom never get their cases resolved for years.

Adama is notorious for framing poor Nigerians and sending them to prison to await trial. Several of them never get their cases resolved for years. One of them died today,” a source said.

According to the media, Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who had earlier been reported to have collapsed, remains in critical condition at the Kuje Prison clinic after being allegedly assaulted and detained by police during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.

Ejimakor was arrested alongside 12 others, including Kanu’s brother, and later remanded by Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id, who reportedly refused to sign their bail bond.

His lawyer, Barrister Maxwell Opara, confirmed that Ejimakor is receiving medical attention at the prison clinic, wearing a neck brace, and struggling to sit or stand.

Ex-Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, was also arrested and arraigned with Ejimakor and others before the same magistrate.
