Inject action-oriented ministers into cabinet, northern youths tells Tinubu

…hail Tunji Ojo, Wike, Umahi as cabinet champions

The Coalition of Northern Youths Consultative Movement (CNYCM) has called on President Bola Tinubu to reassess his cabinet and inject action-oriented ministers who can drive meaningful change. The group specifically identified Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Nyesom Wike, and David Umahi as “Cabinet Champions” whose performances have been impressive.

In a statement issued at a state of the nation press conference, the General Secretary of CNYCM, Comrade Bilal Galadima, and the Kaduna State Coordinator, Yusuf Audu, emphasized the need for a cabinet reshuffle to address the country’s pressing challenges.

“We urge President Tinubu to appoint ministers who are result-driven, visionary, and committed to the nation’s growth and development,” the statement read. “The likes of Tunji Ojo, Wike, and Umahi have demonstrated exceptional leadership and should be considered for key positions in the cabinet.”

The CNYCM reiterated its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to address the nation’s challenges, but stressed the need for a more dynamic and performance-oriented approach.

The Coalition  seized the opportunity to express its heartfelt gratitude to three exemplary ministers for their outstanding contributions to the nation’s development.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, was commended for his visionary reforms and improvements, which have yielded remarkable results. His dedication to excellence has significantly enhanced the ministry’s performance.

Nyesom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was lauded for his transformative efforts in Abuja, making the city a more conducive and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. His leadership has had a profound impact on the nation’s capital.

David Umahi, Minister of Works, was praised for his tireless efforts in upgrading Nigeria’s infrastructure, ensuring efficient project completion, and driving progress in the sector. His commitment to excellence has been instrumental in shaping the nation’s development landscape

The group has also appealed for dialogue regarding the planned protests against bad governance, which have created an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty nationwide. The escalating hardship, characterized by skyrocketing costs of food, medicine, and basic commodities, has pushed many ordinary Nigerians to the brink.

The CNYCM has urged all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to address these pressing issues and work towards a united front for a better Nigeria.

CNYCM has expressed concern over the deteriorating insecurity in the country, particularly in the northern region, which has led to a rise in criminal activities among youth, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

The group has urged the government to take immediate action to address these pressing issues, ensure the safety and well-being of citizens, and create opportunities for the youth.

CNYCM emphasized that they are appealing for dialogue due to the notable achievements of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, despite the current hardship threatening to undermine its progress. The group highlighted some of the achievements, including:

-Regional Development Commissions (Northwest, Southwest, Southeast etc)

– The increment of the minimum wage to ₦70,000

– The granting of autonomy to Local Governments

– The reduction of fuel importation by 51.4% and subsidy removal

– The facilitation of daily direct flights to London by Air Peace

– The collaboration with Meta to enable Nigerian content creators to monetize their content on Facebook

– The eradication of passport scarcity and reduction of application, renewal, and collection time to under two weeks

– The signing of the 2023 Electricity Bill into Law

The CNYCM believes that acknowledging these achievements is essential to encourage the government to continue its good work and address the pressing issues facing the nation.

The group emphasized that while the government has made significant progress in various areas, the current hardship and insecurity threaten to undermine its efforts. CNYCM called on the government to take immediate action to address these challenges and create a conducive environment for the youth to thrive.

By sustaining its achievements and addressing the pressing issues, the government can ensure a brighter future for Nigerian youth and promote peace, stability, and development in the country.
