Ilechukwu blames poor officiating for Plateau United’s loss to Rangers

Plateau United head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu believes his team was denied a place in the Federation Cup final.

The Peace Boys lost 1-0 to Rangers in the semi-final of the competition in Ijebu Ode on Thursday night.

Godwin Obaje scored the winning goal for Rangers from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Ilechukwu was full of praise for his players after the game and claimed the better team lost.

“The best team lost the game as Plateau United was far better than Rangers in terms of play,” he said in a post-match interview.

“My players put their 200 percent into the match, only to be denied the chance to play in the Federation Cup final.

“It’s not my style to talk or make comments regarding referees or officiating after matches, as it’s like flogging a dead horse and cannot change the result.”

Rangers will face their old foes Bendel Insurance in the final of the Federation Cup.

Insurance defeated hard fighting Warri Wolves 3-2 on penalties in the other semi-final game.
