IGP to redeploy Police Commissioner ahead of Saturday’s election

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Imo State, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has disclosed plans to redeploy the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde.

Egbetokun explained that there have been allegations against Barde, hence the need for redeployment.

He spoke while featuring on ChannelsTV programme, Peoples Townhall, on Sunday night.

The police boss also cautioned criminals to steer clear of Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa State on Saturday.

According to Egbetokun, Saturday’s off-cycle election would not be business as usual.

He said: “I am aware that there have been allegations on social media against the Commissioner of Police in Imo State but for this election, we are changing the commissioner of police in Imo.”
