Hundreds of Kwankwasiyya members hold special prayers in Kano

Hundreds of members of the Kwankwasiyya movement gathered in Kano on Thursday to hold special prayers for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, is challenging the victory recorded by Yusuf, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in the March 18 governorhip election in Kano State.

However, as the tribunal is set to deliver judgement in the governorship election dispute, Kwankwasiyya members are seeking divine intervention.

The prayers which involved both male and female followers of the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was conducted at Zaria, Maiduguri, Hadejia and Gwarzo roads which are the main entrances into the Ancient City.

Speaking at one of the prayer grounds, the State Chairperson of the NNPP Women Group, Hajia Zuwaira Abubakar, hinted that they are praying against persons who are hell bent on removing Yusuf as governor of Kano State.

She said, “We are aware of the notorious and criminal underground moves to snatch our hard-earned victory of the NNPP government in Kano State and to which are asking Allah to takes care of those behind such moves”.

Abubakar explained that they will not allow some disgruntled elements to take away Yusuf’s victory in the gubernatorial poll.

She described the governor’s victory in the election as a ‘popular mandate’.
