Hiding not an option – Shehu Sani advises Nigerians amid deportation threat in US

‎Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has advised Nigerians in the United States who are hiding over fears of deportation to return home and avoid possible arrest.

‎In a post on X on Saturday, Sani said reports of thousands of Nigerians going into hiding due to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, activities were concerning, stressing that hiding was not a solution.

‎He urged affected individuals to respect themselves and consider returning to Nigeria voluntarily, noting that even some US citizens are sometimes affected during enforcement operations.

‎According to him, those who are opting for self-deportation have come to terms with the situation, adding that US President Donald Trump still has three years left in his tenure.

‎Nsews reports that Sani’s remarks come amid growing concerns over immigration enforcement and deportation in the United States.

‎He wrote: “The thousands of Nigerians reportedly going into hiding in the US out of fear of deportation by ICE should respect themselves and return home to avoid arrest.

‎“A situation where sometimes even the US citizens are not spared, hiding is not an option. Those who are self deporting have read and understood the reality.Trump has 3 more years for everyone.”
