AS Roma boss, Jose Mourinho has taken a dig at former Chelsea winger Pedro after his side’s Serie A 0-0 draw with rivals Lazio on Sunday.

Mourinho said Pedro is born to dive, adding that the Spaniard is an excellent swimmer.

The Portuguese watched as Roma were fortunate to hold on for a point against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Mourinho also said his decision to double up on Pedro was down to the player being a ‘born diver’, insisting that he could not afford to leave him in one-on-one situations.

“I didn’t want to leave Mancini alone with Pedro,” Mourinho said. “I needed Karsdorp to stay and help him.

“Pedro is a fantastic player but he is a born diver, an excellent swimmer, he dives into the pool just beautifully.”

Pedro joined Chelsea from Barcelona back in 2015, when he chose the Blues over Manchester United.

He spent five years at the West London club before joining AS Roma.

The winger spent a year at Roma before moving across the city to Lazio.
