‘He’s a senator, so what’ — DSS stops Sen Lawal from entering vehicle with El-Rufai

‎Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, was reportedly prevented by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, from entering a vehicle conveying former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, after court proceedings on Wednesday.

‎The senator, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, was seen in a video cited by DAILY POST attempting to enter a black SUV in which El-Rufai was being taken away.

‎In the footage, several security personnel, some wearing helmets and tactical gear, were seen managing a crowd of journalists, supporters and bystanders gathered outside the court premises.

‎As the door of the black SUV was opened, the senator appeared to move toward the vehicle alongside El-Rufai, but DSS operatives reportedly blocked him and stopped him from getting inside.

‎During the exchange, one of the operatives was heard saying, “He’s a senator, and so what?”

‎Earlier, it was reported that DSS operatives again took custody of El-Rufai shortly after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

‎El-Rufai, who is facing trial over alleged corruption, had just concluded a hearing on his bail application in the suit filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
