Health Workers Protest Against Proposed Regulatory Bill in Abuja

‎Health workers under the Joint Health Sector Unions and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations staged a protest at the Unity Fountain in Abuja on Thursday.

‎The demonstration is in opposition to the proposed Health Sector Regulatory Bill currently before the National Assembly.

‎The protesting health workers argue that the bill, if passed, would place all medical and allied health professions under the regulatory authority of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

‎They maintain that each health profession already has its own regulatory body, and warned that the new legislation would effectively make other health professionals subordinate to medical doctors.

‎The protesters plan to proceed to the National Assembly later, where they intend to present their concerns directly to lawmakers.
