“He left a legacy of indiscriminate arrests” – LP chieftain reacts to sack of Bichi as DSS boss

Morris Monye, a prominent Labour Party (LP) chieftain, has declared that the recently sacked Director General (DG) of the Department of State Services (DSS), ”left a legacy of indiscriminate arrests.”

Kano-born Bichi was fired by Prersident Bola Tinubu yesterday and replaced by Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, an assistant DG at the secret police agency.

Monye stated that ”DSS of old will engage you professionally if they feel what you are saying threatens the security of the nation. They will want to know your thoughts. They were real patriots. If it was extreme then they would arrest you.

He, however, stated that under Bichi, ”the DSS later became an agency that were used to pick up tailors and even settle petty civil matters.”

”I hope the new DG reforms the agency that they remain professional for the security of the nation,” he added.
