He has Steven Gerrard’s stature – Sheringham tells Manchester Utd player to replace Pogba

Former Manchester United player, Teddy Sheringham has urged his former club to sign West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice as Paul Pogba’s replacement at Old Trafford this summer.

Sheringham believes Rice has the stature of Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, adding that the 23-year-old is an upgrade of Pogba.

Pogba has left Man United after his contract expired and is expected to return to Serie A giants Juventus.

“He [Declan Rice] understands the game, he has got good pace, he can control the ball, pass it, make good tackles and get forward. He has the stature of Steven Gerrard [Liverpool legend] in midfield,” Sheringham told Lord Ping (via Express).

“[Rice would be an upgrade on Paul Pogba] because Declan is the best midfielder in the world. Pogba is a talented boy, but leads with the wrong character. Whereas someone like Declan does. You want to roll with him, the way he plays the game,” he said.
