He has big shoe to fill – Reece James on Chelsea’s new summer signing

Chelsea defender, Reece James, has insisted that the club’s new summer signing, Nicolas Jackson, has a big shoe to fill in the Blues’ number 9 role.

James also said that Jackson has been helping Chelsea at the top of the pitch in their pre-season matches.

Chelsea recently signed Jackson from Villarreal for €35 million this summer.

The Senegalese forward signed an eight-year contract with the Premier League giants.

Jackson has already got on the scoresheet twice for Mauricio Pochettino’s side during the pre-season, scoring against Brighton and Newcastle United.

When asked about the new summer signing, James told NBC Sports: “He’s got big shoes to fill. Chelsea’s No. 9 has a big history.

“He’s come in at a good time. So far, he’s taken his chances, and he is helping us at the top of the pitch.”
