Hand over united, secure Nigeria to your successor- Anglican Synod to Buhari

The Synod of the Diocese of Bida, Anglican CCommunion in Niger State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his promise by handing over a united and secured Nigeria for the incoming administration.

The Synod made the call in a statement signed by the Bishop of Bida Anglican Diocese, Jonah Kolo at the end of the four-day meeting of the Diocese of Bida, Anglican communion with the theme, “Your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

The communique decried the unabating cases of insecurity in the country particularly the activities of ISWAP, bandits and herdsmen, killings and kidnappings across the country.

Participants also observed with dismay controversies surrounding the 2023 general elections as a result of INEC’s inability to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of the elections and the unprecedented ethnic and religious hostilities which marred the election across Nigeria.

The synod expressed worry over the level of infrastructural decay in the country, particularly, the road network.

The statement condemned the trend in which trained professionals are deserting the country in search of greener pastures abroad.

” It is hazardous to the country’s economy for trained Nigeria professionals to desert the country in search of greener pastures abroad and we are calling on the government to mitigate the trend by providing adequate jobs for youths across the country”.

The Synod further tasked the Federal Government to ensure adequate palliatives are put in place and distributed to Nigerians irrespective of religion, ethnicity or region to ameliorate the sufferings of the citizens occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

It, however, advised the Christian community in Bida Diocese and globally to have faith and be steadfast to give their labour for the Lord Jesus Christ in every circumstance they may find themselves.
