Gunmen kidnaps 20 Medical Students in Benue

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have kidnapped 20 medical and dental students, as well as a House Officer, while they were en route to a convention in Enugu State, Southeastern Nigeria.

According to reports, the students, who were travelling together, were ambushed by the gunmen around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of the state.

The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were headed to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, said an investigation had been launched into the abduction.

“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the identities of the victims have been made known by an X user SportsDokita (Odogwu) @Sports_Doctor2.
