Gunmen Abduct Nigerian Lawmaker Travelling Home for Christmas

A member of the Anambra House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, has been abducted by gunmen while travelling home for Christmas celebration.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night along Ugwunapampa Road in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to sources, Mr. Azuka, who represents Onitsha North Constituency I in the state assembly, was attacked by the hoodlums while returning home for the festive season.

The police spokesperson in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the gunmen abducted the lawmaker at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

The police have assured that they are working to rescue the abducted lawmaker.

Ikenga said the command had “activated operational plans for the possible rescue and arrest of the kidnappers of the lawmaker.”
