Group Threatens To Recall Ned Nwoko From Senate

A Delta State socio-political group, the Ndokwa Renaissance Group, has threatened to mobilise the people of Delta North Senatorial District to recall Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents them in the Senate.

This was stated in a press release issued by the group following an emergency national executive meeting held in Abuja.

The statement, signed by the group’s president, Hon. Chinedu Egbenumolise, and secretary, Dr Uti Onyeukwu, strongly condemned Senator Nwoko’s recent comments on the Senate floor, calling for the creation of Anioma State to be carved out of Delta State in the South South and ceded to the South East as part of measures to address the alleged marginalisation of the geo-political zone.

The group questioned why Senator Nwoko would propose such a move without consulting the people of Delta North, who would be negatively affected by it.

They threatened to sue the federal lawmaker if he does not withdraw his comment, describing it as dangerously self-serving, undemocratic, and unconstitutional.

“It is on record that the Anioma People in the Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State have never been geopolitically yoked together with the current South East region or former Eastern Region of Nigeria whether before or after independence in 1960,” part of the release read.

The group emphasised their support for the creation of Anioma State but criticised Nwoko’s proposal for its potential to cause devastating geopolitical dislocation.
