Group condemns killing of pastoralists, livestock in Nasarawa

A group of northerners, under the auspices of Northern Consensus Movement (NCM), has called for a full investigation into the killing of pastoralists and cattle in Nasarawa State.

The group asked that the families of the deceased and the owners of the cattle must be adequately compensated.

Briefing newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday, the President of Northern Consensus Movement, Dr Awwal Abdullahi Aliyu explained that members of the group and the entire northern region are in the gravest and monumental upset of mind as a result of what they called “genocide” that resulted to killing of over 40 people.

He lamented the attitude of some Nigerian leaders, particularly Governors of Northern States, calling on the chairman Nigerian Governors Forum to as a matter of urgency unravel what he described as “this act of executive rascality”.

Aliyu urged the leaders of the National Assembly to take immediate steps towards addressing the incident with a view to finding the real culprits for them to face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrent for the restoration of sanity in the society.

He explained that the group also received a report from their people from the South East that the Igbo youths, either destroy the goods they carried or kill the occupant of the vehicle or both and called on them to stop killing innocent souls that only carry their legitimate duties in order to earn a living.

“We will mobilise, organise, sensitise our people to be vigilant and prepare to defend themselves wherever they find themselves,” he declared.
