Governor Yusuf: We Inherited a Collapsed Education System

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has decried the deplorable state of the education system inherited by his administration.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Kano State Education Recovery Conference, Gov. Yusuf lamented that his government met a “collapsed” education system, with decaying infrastructure, low learning outcomes, and a general state of neglect.
The conference, which was organised jointly by PLANE Nigeria, Arewa Consultative Forum and the Kano State Government aims to revitalise and reposition the education in Kano.

“We inherited a collapsed education system, deliberately destroyed and vandalized,” Gov. Yusuf claimed.

“Schools without maintenance, no instructional materials, yet we were running a free and compulsory education system.”

Despite the challenges, Gov. Yusuf expressed his administration’s commitment to revamping the education sector, citing various initiatives and investments made in the past year.
The Education Recovery Conference, which brought together stakeholders from across the state, aims to address the Kano’s education sector and ensure that every child has access to quality education.
