Governor Fubara Suspends LGA Chairman, Appoints Caretaker

Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, has suspended Otonye Briggs, the chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (LGA).

This was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 17, by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

According to the statement, Briggs’ suspension is effective immediately, though specific reasons for the decision were not disclosed.

The governor appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the caretaker chairman of the council to oversee the local government’s affairs.

Fubara directed Briggs to hand over all council properties in his possession to the newly appointed caretaker.
