Gov Yusuf reappoints commissioner sacked over suspected drug baron’s bail

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reappointed Ibrahim Ali Namadi, former Commissioner for Transportation, who resigned following controversy surrounding the bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.

‎

‎Namadi resigned in August 2025 hours after the governor received the report of the investigative committee probing the former commissioner.

‎

‎On Wednesday Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf forward names of six nominees, including Ibrahim Ali Namadi, to the Kano State House of Assembly for appointment as commissioners and members of the state executive council.

‎

‎Reading to the governor’s letter during Wednesday’s plenary, the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, said the nominees included retired Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u, Professor Sani Lawan and Hon. Muntari Ishaq.

‎

‎Others are Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, Hon. Idris Garba Mustapha and Ibrahim Namadi Dala.

‎

‎Majority leader Hon. Lawan Hussaini Dala confirmed the development to Daily Trust, he said the nominees were invited to come to Assembly on Monday for screening and confirmation of their appointment by 10am.

‎Daily Trust recalls that Dala was sacked by Governor Yusuf over allegations that he facilitated the bail of a drug baron.
