Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has condoled with Gombe Emirate Council over the death of its senior District Head, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abubakar who died on Tuesday after a brief illness.
Yahaya expressed grief over the death of Abubakar who was also the Yariman Gombe, describing it as a huge loss to the state and the nation.
The governor, in a condolence message issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Gombe by Mr Ismaila Uba-Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House also said the loss was “personal to him.
“Yarima was a father and worthy leader who was ever supportive and who spared nothing to ensure unity, peace and harmony in the society.”
Yahaya said that the late traditional leader was an iconic figure and a man of great wisdom, who led with dignity and respect.
He said: “The late Yarima was a highly respected leader, who was a symbol of inspiration to the people, and who left behind a huge vacuum and indelible footprints.
“We will surely miss his fatherly guidance and counsel.
“Throughout his years of reign as a district head, Yarima was known for preaching peace and championing the course of unity and harmony.
“Not only within his Gombe district but across the entire state.”
Yahaya said that the deceased’s contributions to the community and Gombe State in general would be remembered for years to come.
“During this difficult time, it is important to remember the positive impact that he had on the community and the nation.
“We have to also honor his memory by upholding his legacy of leadership and selfless service,” the governor said
Yahaya conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III, Gombe Emirate Council, the royal family, and the entire people of the state over the monumental loss.
“I pray Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus,” he said.
According to reports, the Gombe Emirate Council has fixed the Funeral Prayer of late Alhaji Abubakar for the burial of the senior district Head of Gombe for Wednesday by 2:00pm at the Emir’s Palace Gombe.
