Gov Yahaya describes PEPT judgement as victory for democracy

Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal affirming the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the Feb. 25 presidential election.

The governor said this in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Ismaila Uba-Misilli, on Wednesday in Gombe.

Yahaya described the judgment as a “victory for democracy and the truth”, adding that Tinubu’s victory was an affirmation of the people’s trust in his leadership qualities, abilities and capabilities, which he demonstrated in the last three months.

“The decision by the tribunal to dismiss the petitions presented by the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, and People’s Democratic Movement is a reinforcement of the people’s will and the transparency of Nigeria’s electoral system.

“This victory is a testament to the strength of our democracy, the resilience of our institutions and the belief of our people in a brighter future,” he said.

Yahaya, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, said the president’s victory had paved the way for him to continue with his qualitative leadership for the benefit of all Nigerians.

The governor also congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) family and hailed the legal team that represented the president and the party.

He also commended the erudition of the judges and the judiciary for their diligence in handling the petitions and ultimately upholding the sanctity of the Nigerian constitution.

According to him, the meticulous review has validated the results of the election.

Reflecting on Tinubu’s first 100 days in office, Yahaya said the president had shown his unwavering commitment in taking bold steps towards addressing the nation’s challenges.

“The government of Gombe State wholeheartedly supports the president’s vision for a better Nigeria and believes his leadership represents renewed hope for the nation,” he added.

The governor urged all Nigerians to rally around the president and his team, as he was working tirelessly towards achieving the shared aspirations of Nigerians by leading the nation to prosperity.
