Gov Kefas seeks collaboration with Taraba monarchs

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has urged monarchs to collaborate with his administration to arrest insecurity in the state.

The state has been battling issues of banditry, kidnapping, communal clashes and farmer-herder clashes.

Kefas engaged the traditional rulers in a roundtable on Friday in Jalingo, the state capital. He said the meeting became necessary due to happenings in the state.

More to his demands, he admonished the monarchs to tread extra legitimate miles to curb illegal mining activities in their various domains.

Like many parts of the country, he expressed sadness that the state has been grappling with the scourge of insecurity.

He added that “the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, communal clashes, and farmer-herder conflicts, all these have caused immense pain and sufferings to our people.”

Kefas said the continued insecurity had cast a dark cloud over the state’s once peaceful state.

While urging all hands to be on deck, he noted that “It is our collective responsibility to confront these challenges head-on and restore peace and security to our state.

“We must set aside our differences to embrace dialogue and work together to find a lasting solution.”
