Gov. Bago Swears In Six New Commissioners, Tasks Them On Diligence

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has sworn in six newly appointed commissioners, charging them to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, dedication and a strong sense of duty.

The commissioners took their oaths of office and allegiance before the Chief Magistrate I, Murtala Ibrahim, at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna, the state capital.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Bago urged the new commissioners to give their best in the service of the people and contribute meaningfully to the administration’s development agenda.

The governor directed the permanent secretaries in the respective ministries to provide the new commissioners with detailed reports on the activities and programmes of their ministries.

He also directed the commissioners to assume office immediately and familiarise themselves with the responsibilities and ongoing programmes of their respective ministries.

The six commissioners had earlier been assigned portfolios by the governor.

Their appointments followed the resignation of six members of the State Executive Council who stepped down to pursue elective political positions.

The development is expected to strengthen the state executive council and ensure continuity in the implementation of government policies and programmes.

The statement was signed by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State.
