Gov. Badaru constitutes 10 man committee to checkmate flooding in Jigawa 

Jigawa State Government has constituted a ten-man committee of engineers to provide a lasting solution to the persistent flooding in the state.

The permanent secretary Ministry of Works and Transport Datti Ahmed disclosed this to newsmen.

He said the committee was constituted to ascertain the level of damage caused by flooding and recommend lasting solutions against future occurrences.

The permanent secretary, however, consoled families who lost loved ones in the flood and sympathized with the victims.

Earlier eported that flooding had displaced hundreds of families, killed over sixty persons and destroyed farmlands.

The flood also cut off roads and bridges including the Gwaram Basirka bridge, Birnin- Kudu bridge, Madobi road, Kiyawa Jama’are road, Karnaya-chai-chai, chai-chai -Ringim, and Ringim-guidance Lage road.

Datti said the committee had already started the assessment of the flood and the repair of the road and bridges will commence immediately after the water subsides.
