Gov Alia reacts as nine children abducted from Benue church regain freedom

‎Nine children abducted from the St. John Catholic Church Ojije in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area of Benue state have regained their freedom.


‎It was gathered that the children were rescued following the efforts of security operatives during an operation.


‎Confirming their rescue, the Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia commended the swift and prompt action of the security agencies and their personnel.


‎According to the governor, the operation was carried out in collaboration between key conventional security agencies and local vigilante groups.


‎Alia assured that the security and safety of all Benue resident remains his administration’s priority.


‎He also stated that the state will continue to work closely with the Federal Government, relevant agencies including local security outfits to improve the security situation in Benue State.


‎Recall that some suspected kidnappers had stormed the St. John Catholic Church in Ojije, Utonkon to kidnap some worshippers.


‎The governor in a high-level security meeting issued a directive for the immediate rescue of the victims.


‎The meeting took place at the palace of the Och’Idoma in Otukpo on February 13.
