Gombe Gov Sacks SUBEB Chairman, Appoints Replacement

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has relieved Mr Babaji Babadidi of his position as Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor explained that the decision, communicated through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, was taken in line with the powers granted to the Governor under Section 22(4) of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (Amendment) Law, 2011.

The governor has approved the appointment of Esrom Toro Jokthan as the new Executive Chairman of SUBEB with immediate effect.

“Professor Jokthan, a seasoned academic and education administrator, is expected to apply his extensive experience to strengthen the progress already made by the Yahaya administration in the basic education sector,” the statement added.

Governor Yahaya appreciated Mr Babadidi for his service to the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining reforms and improvements in the education sector, which remains central to his human capital development agenda.

He expressed confidence that the new SUBEB Chairman will further enhance the delivery of quality, inclusive, and accessible basic education across Gombe State.
