Genk desperate to keep Super Eagles forward, Dessers

Belgian Pro League outfit, KRC Genk is looking to keep their forward, Cyriel Dessers amid interest from other clubs.

Dessers has struggled to make an impact at the Luminus Arena since his arrival from Eredivisie club, ADO Den Haag in 2019.

The 27-year-old flourished during a loan spell at Sparta Rotterdam last season and emerged the top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League with 10 goals from 12 outings.

Injury to his international teammate, Paul Onuachu has presented him with another opportunity at Genk this term and he has grabbed it with both hands.

Dessers has scored three goals and recorded one assist in the opening two games of the campaign for the Smurfs.

Danish Superliga club, FC Copenhagen and Serie A new boys, Cremonese are reportedly interested in the Nigerian international.

Dessers has also expressed his desire to try something new after meeting with Copenhagen officials in Denmark last week.

Reports have now emerged that Genk is not willing to sell the player following his impressive start to the campaign.

Dessers has a contract with Genk until 2024.
