FRSC gives directive for movement restrictions ahead of Edo election

As part of efforts to ensure the smooth conduct of the Edo State Gubernatorial election slated for September 21, 2024, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has ordered the strategic deployment of FRSC personnel across the state.

The directive includes strict enforcement of the vehicular movement restrictions put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election period.

In a statement released by the FRSC headquarters, the Corps Marshal instructed operatives to collaborate closely with other security agencies to ensure compliance with the movement restrictions.

The move is part of measures to prevent any form of disruption to the election process and to maintain order on the roads.

The Corps Marshal further mandated the personnel to prioritize road safety by clearing any obstructions, conducting rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintaining orderliness around polling units.

He emphasized that the operatives should be on standby to respond swiftly to any road incidents or traffic-related issues during the election.

In preparation for the enforcement, the FRSC has also mobilized a substantial number of operational tools, including vehicles, tow trucks, and ambulances.
