Fresh Attack in Oyo as Gunmen Kidnap Ex-minister Adelabu’s Sister, Children

‎There has been another kidnapping incident in Oyo State, as gunmen abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power and 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in the state, Bayo Adelabu, along with her twin children.


‎News reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan.


‎The abduction comes barely three weeks after the kidnapping of 47 pupils, students, and teachers in Ahoro Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.


‎The family of Adelabu confirmed the incident in a statement issued by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, identifying the victim as Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, 43, who was abducted alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.


‎It is understood that the woman was on her way to drop her children at school when the gunmen intercepted her at gunpoint.


‎She was forced to abandon her Kia Sonata vehicle before the attackers whisked her and the children away in another vehicle.


‎An eyewitness said the kidnappers fired sporadic gunshots into the air to scare residents and passers-by from the scene before fleeing with their victims.


‎Meanwhile, the family disclosed that all relevant security agencies were immediately notified and have since commenced investigations into the incident. It added that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
