Former Paris Saint-Germain star, Jerome Rothen has given one major reason France head coach Didier Deschamps will not choose forward Kylian Mbappe as the team’s next captain.
Deschamps is yet to name his new captain for Les Bleus after long-serving skipper Hugo Lloris announced his retirement from international football earlier this week.
This has prompted plenty of debate about who Deschamps will pick to lead the 2018 FIFA World Cup winners going forward.
However, Rothen believes Deschamps will not pick Mbappe as France’s next new captain because the former Monaco star makes too much noise.
“If it was me, Mbappé would be the new captain of the Blues. But knowing Didier Deschamps and his mode of operation, I think he will not put him as captain,” Rothen said on the football podcast Rothen s’enflamme (translated from French to English by Twitter.
“Why? Because he does just too much noise.”
